A word from the real world.

It’s a fact.

The Sentricon System has protected more than 2 million structures in the United States and around the world.

Across the United States, people are talking about the Sentricon® Termite Colony Elimination System. Like you, they know termite damage is all too common. And they know that if a treatment is not effective, termites can and do come back. The good news is that many property owners are protecting their homes with the Sentricon System. Here’s what people say about it:

“We had a terrible problem with termites in our home. For years we had to deal with swarming in our sunroom until we met the team of professionals from Suburban. They offered this new approach that would eliminate the colony that produced the swarmers as well as the worker termites that do the damage we all worry about. Basically to eliminate their home before they eliminated ours. Well it worked, and we have maintained the system since and are seeing once again the value of the Sentricon System since our most recent follow-up showed evidence of a new colony trying to infiltrate our most valuable asset — our home. The Sentricon System got rid of our termites. Plain and simple — it works!”

Merrick, New York

“I credit you, your fine product and your fine people with the correcting of a very discouraging situation. I can attest to the damage that can be done by termite activity and the fact one can spend a lot of money getting repairs made to correct damage. My problem was worse than any fire, since you cannot have insurance to help with repairs caused by such pests … We will continue to boast about our experiences with the Sentricon System and its outstanding results.”
– Theron L. Gregory
Kershaw, South Carolina

“We had the Sentricon System installed around our house in 2000 and have been amazed with it ever since. Having tried other products in the past, we are much more comfortable with the Sentricon System rather than liquid chemicals that we applied and didn’t even work. We have not had another problem and we know that with the Sentricon System, we can achieve total colony elimination.”
– David Sanders
Daytona Beach, Florida

“We’ve had the Sentricon System for almost 10 years now; we couldn’t be happier with the results. Several friends and neighbors have asked us what finally solved our termite problem, and we always recommend the Sentricon System.”
– Emily Roberts
San Antonio, Texas

The White House

A word from some historic places.

The White House, Washington, D.C. Subterranean termites were discovered in the West Wing of the White House in 1998, when termites swarmed just 30 feet from the Oval Office. The termites had entered through a small crack in the foundation. Though no major structural damage was found, damage was discovered under a window and in the baseboard near where the termites swarmed. Immediate action was needed. A local Authorized Operator installed the Sentricon System around the entire perimeter. Recruit AG bait stations, the above-ground component of the Sentricon System, also were installed where the termites had been discovered inside the White House. Termites actively fed on the Recruit termite bait in both the in-ground and above-ground Sentricon stations until colony elimination was achieved. The Sentricon System continues to be monitored to provide ongoing security for the White House.

The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty, New York. The inscription on the Statue of Liberty reads, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.” It says nothing about subterranean termites. Prior to 1996, termites in the monument had been a concern for National Park Service officials. In fact, termites were so troublesome, the museum area of the monument in New York Harbor had been temporarily closed to visitors for a time. The most severe infestations were at the base of the monument that houses the museum and utility rooms. Sentricon stations were installed in the ground around the base of the statue and Recruit AG bait stations were placed around the wood display cases. Thanks to the Sentricon System, termites stopped swarming and were eliminated from one of the world’s most revered structures.

Independence Hall

Independence Hall, Philadelphia. The Sentricon System was installed at Independence Hall in 1999 as a preventive measure to protect the building from known subterranean termite activity in the area. During the first monitoring check by a local Authorized Operator, subterranean termites were discovered in Sentricon stations in the historic Independence Mall courtyard. The Sentricon stations were baited, and termites fed on the Recruit termite bait. In September 1999, termite activity ceased, indicating the attacking termite colony was eliminated. The Sentricon System continues in monitoring mode to protect Independence Hall for history.

Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon, Virginia. Caretakers are taking innovative measures to preserve the 50 buildings on George Washington’s historic estate to protect them from termites now and for posterity. A local Authorized Operator installed the Sentricon System around the Mount Vernon estate in 1999. It eliminated the initial, localized termite problem. Now this nonintrusive monitoring and termite baiting system is preventing additional termite invasions. The estate’s caretakers chose the Sentricon System because it does not require drilling holes in the floors or foundations of these historic buildings, as is required when using liquid chemical treatments. The Sentricon System continues to protect Mount Vernon and defend against additional invading termite colonies.

Iolani Palace

The Iolani Palace, Honolulu. Formosan termites plagued the Iolani Palace, the official residence of the Hawaiian monarchy, for more than 100 years before the arrival of the Sentricon System. In the early 1900s, termites completely destroyed the Palace Coronation Pavilion, which had to be rebuilt. The palace itself underwent massive and costly renovation as a result of ongoing structural damage due to Formosan termites. In the late 1990s, termites once again posed a serious threat. Palace curators and researchers from the University of Hawaii teamed up to install Recruit AG bait stations inside two of the palace towers. In addition, eight pest management firms volunteered to install the Sentricon System in the ground around the perimeter of the structure. Termites attacked the Sentricon stations voraciously in three separate spots on the palace grounds. These invading colonies were eliminated. Now, the Iolani Palace is free of subterranean termites and the Sentricon System continues to protect it from reinfestation by new colonies.

The Alamo

The Alamo, San Antonio, Texas. In 2003, caretakers at the Alamo declared war on destructive subterranean termites. They had found termite damage in the Shrine Museum and other buildings on the Alamo grounds. Due to the age and historic status of these buildings, Alamo personnel did not want to drill and trench interior and exterior walls with a liquid chemical treatment. They wanted a solution that was less intrusive, so they chose the Sentricon System. Just four months after the Sentricon System was installed at the Shrine Museum, the termite colony was eliminated. The Sentricon System acts as the Alamo’s termite security system — an Authorized Operator continues to electronically monitor to protect against reinfestation. Dave Stewart, director of the Alamo, said, “The Sentricon System gives us peace of mind, security and reliability, so we can rest assured that visitors will be able to enjoy the Alamo for many, many years to come.”
